Semester 3

My classes in Semester 3 included Web Development, UX Design, Digital Marketing, and Electronic Publishing. I gained skills in using JavaScript, Figma prototyping, and Adobe InDesign. Here are my proudest projects from this semester!

Town of Rouleau Website Redesign
DSGN-202 - Creating a Prototype in Figma & Understanding UX Principles

This website redesign prototype was done in Figma, teaching me much about UX design fundamentals and Figma's advanced features. For this assignment, I had to choose a poorly made website (check out the original here... it's a piece of work) and redesign it from the ground up, without changing, adding, or removing any content from the original. It was an excellent exercise in taking what a client gives you and making the best of it! For my prototype, I focused on improving navigation, creating a consistent responsive design across viewports, and consolidating information into cards.

This project was showcased at SaskPolytech's Designing Tomorrow Student Showcase, where I got to display and explain my work to students, teachers and industry members! This was an amazing opportunity that I am very grateful for! I believe this accomplishment speaks to the strength of my work.

Portal Brand
MKTG-203 - Creating Brand Guidelines

For this assignment, I had to create a fictional brand to make guidelines for. This involved developing a logo, assets, and overall identity. The brand is Portal, a computer accessories company. The brand identity speaks to innovation, accessible, and premium peripherals that inspire confidence in the consumer. The brand guidelines reflect this, outlining detailed instructions on how to use Portal's logo, colour palettes, and graphics.

4-Page Magazine Layout
GRPH-202 - Using Adobe InDesign & Utilizing Client Materials

This assignment had me using provided text and images to create a 4-page magazine layout. I created my layouts in Adobe InDesign, using character styles to format text and Photoshop to resize images. Similarly to the Town of Rouleau website redesign, I could not change or add any content, so this was a fantastic exercise in creating an aesthetically pleasing design from client-provided content.
